Good oral care does not need to be complicated. The NHS recommends brushing twice a day for about two minutes with fluoride toothpaste. A manual or powered toothbrush can work; take time to clean the surfaces of every tooth gently.

Cleaning between your teeth once a day with floss or an interdental brush helps remove food and plaque from places a toothbrush may miss. Choose a method that feels comfortable and ask a dental professional to demonstrate it if you are unsure.

Small routines are easier to keep: brush before bed, make the second brushing part of your morning, and keep supplies where you will remember them. Limiting sugary snacks and drinks also supports a healthier mouth.

Everyone’s needs are different. A dentist can tailor advice to your teeth, gums and any dental work you have. This article is general information, not a personal diagnosis or treatment plan.
